Flooding neutral walls with colored lighting turns them into a dynamic part of the decor. We use Philips Colorblast LED fixtures, providing thousands of color possibilities with a touch of a button.
Intelligent lighting fixtures aimed a a ceiling or other flat surface projecting both color and a texture. Adding subtle animation transforms a static surface into a dynamic, ever-changing mosaic.
Lighting design is often more a matter of managing and utilizing dark than providing illumination. Use of tightly controlled spotlights to highlight where you want the focus, and reducing the light spill around it can often reduce the overall amount of brightness required. Another trick is to use color contrasts: warmer color on the focal point, cooler colors in the surrounding area.
Sometimes it is better to try to light an undesireable feature, rather than to try and avoid it. For example, converting a large space into an intimate dining area, rather than trying to let the ceiling disappear int a black hole, apply some contrasting color to it. Blue hues, perhaps broken up with random patterns, acknowledge where the top is, without competing for attention. The dining floor and tables would be lit with a warmer, more candlelight-colored look, which also tends to give them a more comfortable feel.
