Long Dry Spell

The COVID pandemic has pretty well eliminated any form of live events, the principal opportunity for us. We haven't been totally inactive, however. We worked with Tigard Covenant Church as they went online for worship and teaching times. Provided lighting for a makeshift studio on a garage, then adapted their regular lighting for video-optimum looks [...]

New Addition

I recently added what I hope to be a real upgrade to the general system spec. I purchased a MagicQ MC-6 console by Chamsys, Ltd, to replace my somewhat elderly Whole Hog 2 system.  The package is actually small enough to qualify as carry-on luggage, but supports up to 12 DMX universes. There is, of [...]

Growing Pains

Recently acquired a few Source Four LUSTR+ LED ellipsoidals.  These are pretty close to state-of-the-art stage fixtures.  I was able to pair them first with ETC's Element console, which allowed me to experience the freedom of selecting from a fairly extensive gel catalogue the actual colour of the fixture light, as well as some spiffy [...]

Updates for 2018

A few improvements this year: Total of 12 small LED moving wash fixtures, up the count on ColorBlast 12 fixtures to over 60 heads. Adding some capability in the arena of support equipment. Several new opportunities this year, as a few also departed.  "Past performance is no guarantee of future earnings." Already have a few [...]

More Blasts

In addition to the eW Blast fixtures I recently acquired, Philips also carries the iW Blast, the difference being the eW blast has a fixed color temperature, while the iW blast can be adjusted between 2700 and 5600 Kelvin.  The fixtures I am adding to the collection have the same form factor as the traditional [...]

WHO KNEW??

A short while ago I accidentally purchased a Philips eW Blast, thinking it was a colorblast.  The eW Blast series is simple white-only version of the same form factor.  Testing it, I discovered the eW Blast could make a valuable source of general wash illumination.  This led to acquiring a few more (fueled by an [...]

Reflecting on 2017

This has been an interesting year! We expanded our capabilities in power distribution, general area illumination, and color washes, all driven by a couple relatively large projects.  Saw some projects disappear and others magically show up--probably a Good Thing in the world of Business! A few major repair needs that hit the budget where it [...]

Summer time to regroup

Looking back on the past season, mostly with a smile, still a good time to review and re-evaluate. Not every idea flew as well as I had hoped, some quite literally blew up in my face.  Added a lot of capability this year, more wash fixtures, more extensive power distribution.  Spent a bunch of time [...]

Something old…something new..

Completed a full weekend supporting a fundraising banquet for Medical Teams International. 68 conventional fixtures, plus 80 LED wash fixtures, provide ambient and decor lighting; plus power distribution for all lighting, sound and video needs. First real use of the PowerCore fixtures, while at the same time utilizing resources that have languished in the back [...]
